Era uma vez uma cigarra que adorava cantar. Durante todo o verão, ela ficava embaixo de
uma árvore, cantando e se divertindo. Ela era feliz assim, sem se preocupar com nada.
Perto dali, havia um formigueiro cheio de formigas trabalhadoras. Elas iam e vinham
carregando folhas, grãos e alimentos para guardar para o inverno. Uma dessas formigas
passou pela cigarra e disse:
— Cigarra, você devia trabalhar um pouco e guardar comida. O inverno vai chegar!
Mas a cigarra riu e respondeu:
— Ah, formiga, o verão é tão bonito! Não vou me preocupar agora. Prefiro cantar e
aproveitar o sol.
E assim, a cigarra continuou cantando e se divertindo, enquanto as formigas continuavam
trabalhando sem parar. Dia após dia, as formigas enchiam o formigueiro com comida.
Estavam preparando tudo para o frio que estava por vir.
Finalmente, o inverno chegou. As folhas caíram das árvores, e o chão ficou coberto de
neve. A cigarra, agora sem comida, estava com frio e fome. Ela não sabia onde encontrar
alimento e lembrou-se das formigas. Decidiu ir até o formigueiro.
A cigarra bateu à porta do formigueiro e disse:
— Por favor, formigas, estou com fome e frio. Vocês poderiam me ajudar?
A formiga que havia avisado a cigarra no verão abriu a porta e disse:
— Cigarra, você passou todo o verão cantando e se divertindo, enquanto nós
trabalhávamos. Agora está frio, e não há comida lá fora.
A cigarra, arrependida, abaixou a cabeça e disse:
— Eu sei, eu devia ter trabalhado como vocês. Eu aprendi a lição.
A formiga pensou por um momento e, vendo que a cigarra estava arrependida, decidiu
ajudá-la. Ela disse:
— Entre, cigarra. Vamos dividir um pouco da nossa comida, mas lembre-se: no próximo
verão, você também deve se preparar para o inverno.
A cigarra agradeceu e prometeu que no próximo verão trabalharia duro. E assim, a cigarra
passou o inverno no formigueiro, aprendendo a importância de se preparar para o futuro.
A moral da história é: Quem não se prepara quando pode, sofrerá quando precisar.

Once upon a time, there was a grasshopper who loved to sing. All summer long, she
stayed under a tree, singing and having fun. She was happy like that, with no worries.
Nearby, there was an anthill full of hardworking ants. They were coming and going, carrying
leaves, grains, and food to store for the winter. One of these ants passed by the
grasshopper and said:
— Grasshopper, you should work a bit and store food. Winter is coming!
But the grasshopper laughed and replied:
— Oh, ant, summer is so beautiful! I won’t worry now. I prefer to sing and enjoy the sun.
And so, the grasshopper continued singing and having fun, while the ants kept working
nonstop. Day after day, the ants filled their anthill with food. They were preparing for the
cold that was to come.
Finally, winter arrived. The leaves fell from the trees, and the ground was covered with
snow. The grasshopper, now without food, was cold and hungry. She didn’t know where to
find food and remembered the ants. She decided to go to the anthill.
The grasshopper knocked on the anthill door and said:
— Please, ants, I am hungry and cold. Could you help me?
The ant who had warned the grasshopper in the summer opened the door and said:
— Grasshopper, you spent all summer singing and having fun while we worked. Now it’s
cold, and there’s no food outside.
The grasshopper, regretful, bowed her head and said:
— I know, I should have worked like you. I learned my lesson.
The ant thought for a moment, and seeing that the grasshopper was truly sorry, decided to
help her. She said:
— Come in, grasshopper. We will share some of our food, but remember: next summer,
you must also prepare for winter.
The grasshopper thanked the ants and promised that next summer she would work hard.
And so, the grasshopper spent the winter in the anthill, learning the importance of
preparing for the future.
Moral of the story: Those who don’t prepare when they can, will suƯer when they need to.
