Um burro carregava sacos pesados de sal para o mercador. Ao atravessar
um rio, ele escorregou e caiu na água. Quando se levantou, percebeu que a
carga havia ficado mais leve, pois o sal se dissolveu. No dia seguinte, o
burro tentou repetir o truque e se jogou na água de propósito. Mas, desta
vez, o mercador trocou a carga por esponjas, que absorveram a água e
deixaram a carga ainda mais pesada.
Moral da história: A esperteza nem sempre traz o resultado esperado.

A donkey was carrying heavy sacks of salt for the merchant. While crossing a
river, he slipped and fell into the water. When he stood up, he noticed that
the load had become lighter because the salt had dissolved. The next day,
the donkey tried to repeat the trick and threw himself into the water on
purpose. But this time, the merchant had replaced the salt with sponges,
which absorbed the water and made the load even heavier.
Moral of the history: Cleverness doesn’t always lead to the desired outcome.
