Era uma vez uma pequena galinha vermelha que vivia em uma fazenda com seus amigos: o gato, o pato e o porco. Um dia, a galinha encontrou alguns grãos de trigo no chão e teve uma ideia. Ela perguntou aos seus amigos:
“Quem vai me ajudar a plantar esses grãos de trigo?”
O gato, o pato e o porco responderam todos de uma vez: “Eu não!”
Então, a galinha decidiu plantar os grãos de trigo sozinha. Ela trabalhou duro cavando a terra, plantando as sementes e as regando todos os dias. Com o tempo, os grãos de trigo cresceram e se transformaram em plantas altas e fortes.
Quando o trigo estava maduro e pronto para ser colhido, a galinha perguntou novamente aos seus amigos:
“Quem vai me ajudar a colher o trigo?”
O gato, o pato e o porco responderam da mesma forma: “Eu não!”
Então, a galinha colheu o trigo sozinha. Ela cortou as plantas, debulhou os grãos e os moeu para fazer farinha. Depois de todo esse trabalho árduo, a galinha tinha uma bela pilha de farinha pronta para ser transformada em pão.
Então, a galinha perguntou uma última vez aos seus amigos:
“Quem vai me ajudar a assar o pão?”
Mais uma vez, o gato, o pato e o porco recusaram, dizendo: “Eu não!”
Então, a galinha assou o pão sozinha. Ela misturou a farinha com água e fermento, amassou a massa e a colocou no forno para assar. O cheiro delicioso do pão recém assado encheu a fazenda.
Quando o pão estava pronto, a galinha retirou-o do forno e o colocou sobre a mesa. Seus amigos, o gato, o pato e o porco, foram atraídos pelo delicioso aroma e disseram:
“Que cheiro maravilhoso! Posso provar um pedaço?”
Mas a galinha sacudiu a cabeça e disse:
“Não, eu plantei o trigo, colhi, moí e assei o pão sozinha. Agora, eu vou comer sozinha.”
E assim, a pequena galinha vermelha saboreou seu pão quentinho, enquanto seus amigos assistiam com inveja. Eles aprenderam que é importante ajudar nos trabalhos árduos desde o início, se quiserem compartilhar das recompensas no final.

Once upon a time, there was a little red hen who lived on a farm with her friends: the cat, the duck, and the pig. One day, the hen found some wheat grains on the ground and had an idea. She asked her friends:
“Who will help me plant these wheat grains?”
The cat, the duck, and the pig all replied at once: “Not I!”
So, the hen decided to plant the wheat grains by herself. She worked hard, digging the soil, planting the seeds, and watering them every day. Over time, the wheat grains grew into tall, strong plants.
When the wheat was ripe and ready to be harvested, the hen asked her friends again:
“Who will help me harvest the wheat?”
The cat, the duck, and the pig responded in the same way: “Not I!”
So, the hen harvested the wheat by herself. She cut the plants, threshed the grains, and ground them into flour. After all that hard work, the hen had a beautiful pile of flour ready to be turned into bread.
Then, the hen asked her friends one last time:
“Who will help me bake the bread?”
Once again, the cat, the duck, and the pig refused, saying: “Not I!”
So, the hen baked the bread by herself. She mixed the flour with water and yeast, kneaded the dough, and put it in the oven to bake. The delicious smell of freshly baked bread filled the farm.
When the bread was ready, the hen took it out of the oven and placed it on the table. Her friends, the cat, the duck, and the pig, were drawn by the wonderful aroma and said:
“What a wonderful smell! Can I have a piece?”
But the hen shook her head and said:
“No, I planted the wheat, harvested it, ground it into flour, and baked the bread by myself. Now, I will eat it by myself.”
And so, the little red hen enjoyed her warm bread, while her friends watched with envy. They learned that it’s important to help with the hard work from the beginning if they want to share in the rewards in the end.
